Omega 3 and Weight Loss - Benefits

Is there any beneficial link between omega 3 and weight loss? Would it be helpful to use omega 3 for weight loss?

Omega 3 fatty acids, such as DHA and EPA which are richly found in fish oil and others found in flaxseed oil, come with a whole host of many health benefits. These healthy fats not only help ward off serious health ailments, such as Alzheimer's disease and even cancer, they also boost overall health and vitality. Your brain health, skin health, hair health, heart and cardiovascular health, as well as joint health, among others, all stand to gain with adequate amounts of omega 3 fatty acids in your diet.

So how does the beneficial link between omega 3 and weight loss come about? When you eat sufficient amounts of these healthy fats, your overall fatty intake is balanced. This helps to reduce your cravings for unhealthy fatty foods. The result is then weight regulation and reduction.

It has also been put forth that the omega 3 fatty acids in flaxseed oil help the body to burn excess calories, as well as to regulate insulin metabolism so as to keep one's cravings for sugar in check.

Besides trying to use omega 3 for weight loss, it is worthwhile to once again note that these important essential fatty acids provide many protective and beneficial effects on health. Thus, whether or not you are combating weight or obesity problems, these healthy oils should still be readily employed as part of your health-boosting efforts.
